March Meeting Thank you to ...

Gail Devereaux for hosting a wonderful meeting on March 11th. Our March meeting featured a timely topic — “Tax Management Tips for Business Owners”. We had a “full house” of WBA members in attendance to enjoy the presentation and the delicious breakfast that Gail served. Elizabeth R. Barker of RBC Wealth Management, and Jeff Horrow, a self employed tax preparer, offered a wealth of tax and investment tips for members that might result in increased tax savings. If anyone would like a copy of the “tax facts” handouts, contact Elizabeth at liz.barker@rbcdain.com.

Board Member Opening

The Whitemarsh Business Association is seeking a new board member for the position of Corresponding Secretary. The new board member should be committed and energetic and will be expected to attend two monthly meetings on the 2nd & 3rd Tuesday of each month.

PW High School Partnerships

The WBA is currently working with the PW Art Department to start a Traveling Art Show in May of 2008. If you are interested in giving PW art students display space in your businesses, please contact Barbara Asman at twoongo@comcast.net or 610-940-1929.

We need WBA businesses that are interested in participating in the PW Student Internship Program for Fall 2008. If you are interested in hosting an intern from September 2008 — January 2009, please contact Jody Davies at jodydavies@allstate.com. Please include the specific duties that the intern would participate in. Deadline: May 20, 2008.


Whitemarsh Welcome Wagon

Welcome Wagon baskets will be delivered to new homeowners by a Township representative starting April 2008. The partnership between the WBA and Whitemarsh Township affords WBA member businesses an exclusive way to reach new Whitemarsh Township customers. If you have any additional items that you would like included, contact Jody Davies.

Advertising Deadline: April 22, 2008

The WBA currently has a full-page business card ad once a month in the THREE InterCounty Newspapers: LH Journal, Plymouth Meeting Journal and Conshohocken Recorder. InterCounty Newspapers are published weekly. We currently have 21 members participating in our ad that runs out in April.

We will expand our ads to include the Whitemarsh Township Enterprise. The Enterprise is published once a month.

*The WBA discounted price for your individual ad is only $25 per ad. This is 40% off the normal ad prices. You can't beat the price!!!

If you are interested in advertising with us for the next six months, May 2008 — October 2008, please click here to pay via PayPal and to print out an advertising form that can be either emailed or mailed to us. Your choices are:
  1. 6 months of ads — once a month — $150, InterCounty Newspapers
  2. 6 months of ads — once a month in EACH paper — $300, InterCounty Newspapers & Enterprise
  3. 6 months of ads — TWICE a month in InterCounty & ONCE a month in Enterprise — $450
If paying by check, please include five business cards and indicate “Advertising” on the check.

Whitemarsh Wellness Wednesday - New Township Program Beginning May 14, 2008
On the second Wednesday of each month, the Township will hold a "Community Wellness" event.

Whitemarsh 5K Run/Walk: Sponsorship Deadline extended to April 1st, 2008
Parks & Rec is looking for WBA businesses to sponsor this event which takes place at Fort Washington State Park
on May 17, 2008. Sponsorship cost is $50. Make check out to Whitemarsh Township. Please include two business
cards and indicate "5K Run" on the check. Sponsorship includes your business name and logo on the race T-shirt.
